Worried about diphtheria; Booster dose started today in Rayagada

Rayagada: Diphtheria infection is spreading in the state. Which has now become a headache. A big step has been taken by the health department. Booster dose has been started from today in Kashipur of Rayagada. There is a program to give booster dose in 80 villages. For this it is divided into 3 sections.

First, from newborn to one year of age, penta dose will be given to the child. Second, DPT dose will be given to children between 1 and 7 years and TD dose will be given to children between 7 and 15 years. Director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Sanjukta Sahu has informed.

After surveillance, booster doses will be given in other areas where the infection has spread. Antibiotics are given to people with symptoms to treat diphtheria. Further surveillance will be done in Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri.

It is worth noting that 21 patients have been identified in 3 districts. 5 people have already died. The condition of a patient in Koraput Bandhugaon is critical. He is undergoing treatment at Berhampur MKCG Medical Center.
