Bhubaneswar: IIT Bhubaneswar on Monday launched an on-campus electric rickshaw service to promote environment-friendly transport. Director of IIT Bhubaneswar Prof. Shripad Karmalkar flagged off the service in the presence of other guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Karmalkar lauded this initiative and termed it as an important milestone for the institute. He said that this is fully in line with IIT Bhubaneswar’s vision of a sustainable future and reinforces its commitment towards reducing its environmental impact.

Registrar Bamadeva Acharya emphasized the collective commitment of IIT Bhubaneswar towards making the campus a model of environmental responsibility. He appreciated the introduction of eco-friendly and cheap transport system for the inmates of the campus.

Professor of the Department of Transportation Dr. Satchidananda Rath highlighted the benefits of this service and said that the launch of e-rickshaw service in the campus is an important milestone for IIT Bhubaneswar. This is fully in line with our vision of a sustainable future and reinforces our commitment to reducing our environmental impact. These e-rickshaws not only provide an environment-friendly mode of transport but also contribute to creating a more accessible and inclusive campus for all.
