The train rolled over the world’s highest railway bridge

New Delhi: The test was successful. The train rolled over the world’s highest railway bridge. An electric train was launched experimentally by the Indian Railways on the bridge over the river Chenab in Reasi. Which has successfully moved from Jammu and Kashmir to Rajya Sabha. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has informed on his social media X.
The Northern Railway on Sunday successfully tested an electric railway engine between Sangaldan in Ramban district to Reasi, which also successfully crossed the world’s highest arch railway bridge over the river Chenab at Reasi.

On Sunday, the first experimental train run on this bridge was successfully run. Except for a few works of Tunnel-1, the rest of the construction of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Barmula rail link is in its final stages.

Regarding this, a senior railway official said, this bridge connects Sangaldan with Ramban district. Train service on this bridge will start soon. We are very happy for this first successful trial. The world’s highest railway bridge has been completed with the tireless efforts of engineers and workers. The Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla rail link is expected to be connected by the end of this year.

It is worth noting that this bridge, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 20 February 2024, is higher than the Eiffel Tower. 359 meters and 1,178 feet high. A total of 30,000 metric tons of steel has been used in the construction of Chenab Rail Bridge. This pole has been constructed at a cost of Rs.1486 crores. It can withstand wind speeds of up to 260 km per hour. The train will reach Baramulla through 7 stations. It aims to provide easy transportation facilities to the people of the valley.
