Koraput: Fatal road accident near Koraput-Rayagada National Highway Podagada. A passenger bus overturned after hitting a power pole. One person died in the accident and more than 10 were injured. All the injured have been admitted to the nearest medical center. The identity of the deceased has not been found yet.
The accident happened late on Tuesday night. Traffic on the national highway was disrupted for about two hours after the accident. The local people joined in the rescue work and then the police and fire brigade arrived at the scene and started the rescue work.
It has been reported that such an accident took place when the Khambeswari bus was coming from T Malkangiri to Berhampur. Passengers have complained that the bus driver was drunk and driving. The police seized the bus and are investigating the incident. There were more than 35 passengers in the bus.
