Delhi: Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur on Tuesday has given strict instructions to ‘Over the Top’ (OTT) platforms regarding content. He said in a meeting with the representatives of OTT platforms yesterday that the government will not allow Indian culture and society to be insulted in the name of creative freedom.
He also asked the OTT representatives not to use the platform for propaganda and ideology-based favoritism. He said, “India is a country full of diversities. The OTT platform should reflect the overall consciousness of the country and provide quality content to all age groups.” And also he said that we are taking India’s creative economy forward, so these platforms should be sensitive to the cultural diversity of the country. Minister of Information and Broadcasting said that ministry is focusing on strengthening alliances and contacts to achieve this goal. And also said that it is the responsibility of the OTT platform to ensure that obscenity is not served in the name of creative freedom in their platform.
