Srinagar: 2 jawan were martyred and 4 terrorists were killed in a separate encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday. The officials said that two Jawan were martyred during the fight with the terrorists.
The incident took place when the security personnel conducted a cordon and search operation after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in Modargam village in South Kashmir district.
When the security forces were carrying out their duties, the terrorists opened fire on them and there was an exchange of fire. During this exchange, the officials informed that a Jawan of the Indian Army was seriously injured. Jawan died trying to save him. The exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists continues.
In a post on the social media platform X, the Kashmir Zone Police said, the encounter started in Modargam village of Kulgam district. Police and security forces are engaged in the work. More information will be provided later.
Notably, the number of terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir has increased in the last few months. Jammu and Kashmir ADGP Anand Jain said that 3 terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Gandoh, Bhadrawah sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district in June.
