Bhubaneswar: Taking bribes has become expensive. Food Corporation of India (FCI) Odisha branch general manager arrested. CBI has arrested 5 people including General Manager Prem Singh. CBI has arrested 2 officials of FCI Bhubaneswar regional office, owner of a private firm in Kolkata and 2 brokers. CBI has arrested 2 people from Bhubaneswar and 3 people from West Bengal.
The arrested accused are General Manager of FCI Prem Singh Bannot, Deputy General Manager Sanjay De and broker Syed Hassan Ahmed, who had a deal with Somi Bhattacharya, owner of a private firm in Calcutta, and others have been arrested and prosecuted. CBI caught while taking bribe for handover of tender.
Food Corporation of India (FCI) works in the field of food supply. A private firm wanted to win the tender for grain transport business in FCI. After making the deal, he was in touch with the officials of Odisha FCI office in Bhubaneswar through 2 intermediaries. To win the tender of grain transport, the owner of a private firm in Kolkata, along with 2 brokers, contacted the GM of FCI Odisha regional office and executed a deal for bribe.
A deal of 1 lakh rupees was made regarding bribery. The CBI caught GM Prem Singh Bannot and Deputy Manager Sanjay De while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to get the tender. The CBI has also arrested the broker and the owner of the private firm who dealt with a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh . CBI conducted raids in various places including Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata. A case has been filed by the CBI. A case has been filed against 5 people. 5 people have been arrested. Similarly, during the search operation, 5 lakh rupees, laptop mobile and some documents were seized.
