Bengaluru: Another milestone has been crossed by India’s Sun Mission. Aditya-L1 completed its first halo orbit on 178 days. After launching on September 2, 2023, Aditya L1 reached its first Lagrangian point on January 6. Aditya-L1 has now completed its first halo orbit. This information has been given by ISRO on social media.
It was placed in a halo orbit at a distance of 15 lakh kilometers from the earth. This solar observatory of India has already sent many important data and photos related to the sun to ISRO. However, after February 22 and June 7, the third station keeping maneuver has been done today to keep it on its course. ISRO has successfully placed Aditya L1 into the second orbit
.Aditya L1, which collects data related to photosphere, chromosphere and corona, is planned to work continuously for the next 5 years. The mission aims to observe the Sun’s corona and understand its extreme heat from a halo orbit around the first Sun-Earth Lagrangian point (L1), about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth.
