RF Bureau: Gita Mehta, the famous writer and elder sister of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has passed away. She passed away yesterday at her residence in Delhi at the age of 80. Gita Mehta was born in New Delhi in 1943. She is the daughter of former Chief Minister Bijupattanaik. Geeta was ill for the past few days and passed away yesterday at her residence in Delhi.

Gita Mahta was not only a writer, she also a journalist and documentary filmmaker. She was educated at Cambridge University, UK. She is married to famous American publisher Late Soni Mehta. Her books include Karma Cola, Snake and Ladder, A River Sutra, Raj and The Eternal Ganesha. On the other hand, many senior people including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Professor Ganesh Lal have mourned Geeta’s demise.
