Srinagar: Amarnath Travel has been temporarily halted due to heavy rains. Officials have informed that the journey will start once again after the rain stops. However, since last night, heavy rain has been falling on Baltal and Pahalgam routes. In such a situation, the devotee has been sent to the base camp. So far, more than half a million devotees have visited Baba Barfani in the Amarnath cave at a height of 3,880 meters.
Notably, Amarnath, located 141 km away from Srinagar and at a height of 12,756 feet above sea level, is recognized as one of the most famous Shiv pithas in the country. Amarnath Yatra is organized every year amid tight security.
Every year devotees perform Amarnath Travel in two ways. The first route is the Nanban-Pahalgam route which is a distance of 48 km and the second route is the Baltal route which is a narrow route of only 14 km. So 95 percent devotees prefer Pehalgaon road.
