New Delhi: General elections will be held in the UK on July 4. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced on Wednesday night. He said that the time has come for Britain to choose its own future. After King Charles III was notified of the election date, Parliament broke up quickly. After this the election process will start.

As Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak will go to the voters for the first time in the election. Before the elections in 2022, the ruling Conservative Party did not announce the name of the Prime Minister. After the election, the party’s parliamentary party elected Sunak as its leader. Sunak won the support of about 200 MPs, after which he became the Prime Minister. Annie Sunak said that the last five years were the most demanding for the country. I will fight for your every vote in the coming days. We have a clear plan. However, before this announcement, British cabinet ministers were seen entering the Prime Minister’s office one by one. Parliament will be dissolved next week and the election process will begin.

44-year-old Rishi Sunak is the first Indian Prime Minister of Britain. He took charge in October 2022. General elections were likely to be held here in January 2025. Sunak was given time till December to announce the election, but he announced it seven months earlier. After the repeal of the Fixed Term Elections Act in 2022, the Prime Minister of Great Britain gained the right to set the date of the election. The Prime Minister decides the election date considering the most profitable time for his party.

However, Parliament is dissolved only after the fifth anniversary of the first session of the Parliament. The anniversary of the current Parliament was to be held on 17th December 2024. After the dissolution of Parliament, 25 working days are given for election preparation. If due process had been followed, there would have been an election in the UK before 28 January 2025.
