Bhubaneswar: BJD National Spokesperson Dr. Santrupta Misra has emphasized on the tribal community. He said that the tribal community is very important. It is 22.8% or one crore people in Odisha. Their development has preserved culture, knowledge, wild produce, medicine, lifestyle, ancient civilization. There are 64 tribes in 314 blocks. 74 dialects are used.
BJD president Naveen Patnaik has always thought about their needs. There have been many programs for economic security, education, language and cultural protection of the tribe. There are three medical colleges in education. Raghunath Murmu in Baripada, Martyr Laxman Nayak in Koraput and Martyr in Kalahandi. 2500 schools in residential areas have been converted to 5-T. 3300 conversion work is going on. 1734 Suvidya School. 5 lakh 70 thousand children are studying in hostels. 15 lakh students, 7500 students and 8000 scholarships have been given. 4 lakh students are given post matric scholarship. 950 additional scholarships are given to more than 1 lakh 6 thousand students for tuition. Has been hosteled in the city by desire. Through research, 21,682 children are studying outside in 17 districts. The model residential school is running exclusively. Work is in progress to preserve and spread 21 languages. Provision is made to place in the eighth paragraph of the Constitution. Benefits are planned for financial freedom.
SHG is done to increase the income of women. 99 lakh people have benefited. Eprocurement under 5-T prevents arbitrariness of intermediaries. 27,308 families have been helped at a cost of 711 crores for the protection of primitive tribes.
A world-class Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium has been constructed in Rourkela for the tribal youth. 17 astroturfs have been made in Sundargarh. Musical instruments are made to protect the ancient language and culture. 22 cultural clubs for tribals, 4400 cemeteries, tribal museums, construction of academies, development through 23 SDCs, training for jobs through tribal development society, 5 acre tribal buildings have been given in Bhubaneswar at a cost of 100 crores.
