WIDESPREAD DAMAGE DUE TO CYCLONE REMAL: 10 DEAD IN BANGLADESH AND 2 DEAD IN BENGAL

Kolkata: It has been reported that around 10 people have died in Bangladesh due to the impact of Cyclone Remal. More than one and a half lakh houses have been destroyed during the storm. Similarly, more than 35 thousand houses have been completely destroyed while 10 international flights have been cancelled. Similarly, about 8 lakh people were displaced in Bangladesh due to the cyclone.

On the other hand, information has been received that 2 people have died in West Bengal due to the impact of Cyclone ‘Remal’. A wall collapsed during the storm and one person died while another person was killed by a falling tree. A man was also injured in the clash in Sundarbana. Meanwhile, flight services have resumed in Kolkata after the effects of the storm subsided.

Electricity has been cut off in large areas of Bangladesh, affecting 15 million people. On Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department said that Remal has weakened. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reviewed the situation of the cyclone and said that it has caused extensive damage in the state. At least 15 thousand houses have been demolished in 24 blocks and 79 municipal wards. It has mainly caused more damage in the southern coastal areas of West Bengal. 2 lakh 7 thousand people have been taken to 1438 safe shelters.
