On Sunday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was returning from Azerbaijan when his helicopter crashed on the border of East Azerbaijan. Even after 17 hours of the incident, the rescue team could not find any trace of the President. Aboard the helicopter were Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahiyan, Governor of Azerbaijan Malek Rahmati, and religious leader Mohammad Ali Ale Hashem. It is said that they also died after the accident.
According to information, the accident happened near the city of Jolfa on the border of North Azerbaijan, about 600 kilometers (375 miles) from Tehran, the capital of Iran. The Iranian President was returning from Azerbaijan around 3 o’clock on Sunday Indian time. Meanwhile, his helicopter crashed on the border of East Azerbaijan. He had 2 more helicopters with him and they returned. But Ibrahim’s helicopter crashed and disappeared. However, since yesterday till today, while 40 teams have been engaged in the rescue work, there is information that the rescue work cannot be accelerated due to bad weather.
In this incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on social media X and said that he is very concerned about the reports related to the helicopter flight of President Raisi.
