Suryakumar equaled Kohli’s record

Pallekele: The Indian cricket team on a visit to Sri Lanka lost the home team in the first T20 and took a 1-0 lead in the series. India won this hard-fought match by 43 runs. Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav has equaled Virat Kohli’s record on the occasion of this match. Virat became the man of the match for the most number of times in T20 Internationals. He has been considered player of the match 16 times in 125 international T20. Suryakumar has equaled this record in just 69 matches.

Behind him, Sikandar Raja (15), Mohammad Nabi (14), Rohit Sharma (14) and Virendeep Singh have been considered player of the match 14 times. With Kohli and Rohit announcing their retirement from T20 Internationals, Suryakumar has a golden opportunity to maintain this record. In the first T20I, India lost 7 wickets and made 213 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka managed to score 170 runs in 19.2 overs.
