South Africa beat Afghanistan in T20 World Cup final for first time in history

New Delhi: Finally!! South Africa in final of ICC event!! South Africa lost to Afghanistan in the first semi-final of T-20 World Cup 2024 and entered the final. South Africa won the match from Afghanistan with 9 wickets in hand and 67 balls remaining.

Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat in this match played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. It is completely wrong for them. Batting first, Afghanistan scored only 56 runs in 11.5 overs and was bowled out by the African bowlers. Meanwhile, Marco Jansen and Tabraiz Shamsi took 3 wickets each from the team. Chasing this target, South Africa won by 60 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 8.5 overs.

Chasing a small target of 57 runs, South Africa had a poor start but the team achieve a one-sided victory. D Kock scored only 5 runs in 8 balls with 1 four. However, Africa did not lose any wicket after that.

Reeza Hendricks and skipper Aiden Markram then reached the target with an unbeaten 55 (43 balls) partnership. Reeza Hendricks scored an unbeaten 29 off 25 balls with 3 fours and 1 six while captain Markram scored an unbeaten 23 off 21 balls with 4 fours.

South Africa is also called Choker. Teams often do not play well in knockout matches. But this time, South Africa showed good form and won the semi-final and removed the choker tag.
