SECTION 144 CONTINUES IN CUTTACK FROM TODAY, ELECTION COMMISSION ORDERS

Cuttack: Polling for 6 Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly is going to be held in the state on 25th. Section 144 has been issued in 6 assembly constituencies of Cuttack district for the polls to be held in the context of the current general elections. According to the order of Election Commission of India, this section 144 will come into effect from 5 pm on 23rd and will remain in force until 6 am on 26th.

Cuttack district magistrate and district election officer Arindam Dakua has issued section 144 in the entire area of 87-Badamba, 88-Banki, 89-Athagarh, 90-Barabati Cuttack, 91-Chaudwar Cuttack and 93-Cuttack Sadar assembly constituencies of the district. No vehicle can be parked within the 200 meter perimeter of the polling station except for the authorized person performing the official duties. Similarly, a ban has been issued on the use of loudspeakers, amplifiers and any other devices that make loud noises in the entire Cuttack district for all except government employees engaged in public service.

No weapons or ammunition can be displayed in Cuttack district. It is also prohibited for anyone other than the authorized officers to carry weapons in the polling station premises. Any person who disobeys these instructions shall be punished under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant provisions.
