RCB MADE HISTORY BY WINNING THE TITLE AFTER 16 YEARS: DEFEATED DELHI IN THE FINAL

New Delhi: The final match of the second edition of Women’s Premier League was held between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. The match was played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi captain Meg Lanning won the toss and elected to bat first, but her team could not capitalize on the opportunity and were bowled out for just 113 runs.

After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning came down to open the field and Shefali Burma was present at the crease to assist her. By the end of 7 overs, the team scored 64 runs without losing a wicket. Then in the seventh over, Sophie Molyneux dismissed Shefali Burma, Jemima Rodriguez and Alice Capsey in 4 balls.

Where the score of the team reached 64 for the loss of 3 wickets to 64 for the loss of 0 wickets. The Delhi team could not get rid of this shock and Shreyanka Patil took 4 wickets for 12 runs in 3.3 overs. Barring Lanning and Shefali, no other batsman could take Delhi forward.

Bangalore’s start was spectacular. In this low-scoring match, Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine shared an important partnership of 49 runs for the first wicket. Devine scored 32 runs in 27 balls with 5 fours and 1 six.

Similarly, captain Mandhana scored 31 runs in 39 balls but played an important innings. Ellis Perry batted very well throughout the tournament and played an unbeaten innings of 35 off 37 balls in the final. Richa Ghosh has made RCB the champion for the first time with the winning shot.
