New Delhi: The Congress party has finalized its candidates for Lok Sabha elections in Amethi and Rae Bareli. Rahul Gandhi, who was earlier elected from Amethi, has now filed his nomination to contest the election from Rae Bareli and hopes to take over from his mother Sonia Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi did not choose to contest the election this time and instead went to the Rajya Sabha.

Rahul Gandhi along with Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra submitted nomination papers from Rae Bareli and described the moment as emotional. He expressed his commitment to carry on the tradition of his family’s workplace and serve the people of Rae Bareli and Wayanad, who won the last elections.

Apart from this, Rahul Gandhi expressed his satisfaction to Kishori Lal Sharma representing the Congress in the meeting and acknowledged his four decades of dedication to the region. He also expressed his determination to continue the struggle for justice and uphold democratic values.

In Rae Bareli, Rahul Gandhi will face BJP candidate Dinesh Pratap Singh and Kishori Lal Sharma will face Union Minister Smriti Irani in Amethi. In the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, voting for this assembly will be held on May 20.
