Bhubaneswar: The people of Lakshmi Sagar-Chintamaniswar region in the capital invited Housing and Urban Development Minister Krishnachandra Mahapatra to tell about the problems and development of their region. And when people saw the new minister, they expressed their dissatisfaction for a long time. You can imagine how the sanitation system will be when the road is covered with mud. And a woman said that the previous government and the Bhubaneswar Metropolitan Corporation were responsible for such roads. And even though the slave was listening to the mayor’s discussion, there was nothing left to answer. Because what was seen was what the concerned woman was saying. And there was nothing to cover up the complaint.

BMC Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patel, Ekram MLA Babu Singh and other municipal officials along with Minister Krisham Mohapatra visited various areas. The visit included a visit to the historic ‘Dhoba Pokhari’ pond, where local residents have expressed dissatisfaction over roads and sanitation.

A local resident said, he (Krishna Chandra Mohapatra) is the first minister who has come to see the work of the project. It has been going on for five years. The people of this region are facing a lot of problems.

Local residents said that the restoration work of this historic pond, which started in 2016 at a cost of 8 crore rupees, is incomplete. They alleged that due to the encroachment of the builders, the area of the pond has decreased from the original 22 acres to only 9 acres. Of the original 22 acres of the pond, 9 acres of land has been uprooted. Another resident said that they should start work after reclaiming the original land.

After Mayor Das left the scene during the commotion, there was a rumor among the locals that he ran away after facing the anger of the locals. Later, Mayor Sulochana Das was once again present with Minister Krishnachandra Mahapatra during a visit to Oscar City, Nico Park and a review of the Hajj Pond Project in Naples.

Minister Krishna Chandra Mohapatra has assured the local residents that people’s problems are being taken seriously. He promised that a meeting will be held with the mayor, commissioner and other officials for the current condition of the pond and the repair of the road.

We have asked the commissioner to repair the road. In the future, the voice system will also be added. Regarding the pond, a meeting will be held with the mayor, commissioner and other officials to review the current situation.

Commenting on the condition of the pond, Mayor Sulochana Das said that he went there less than two years ago when the pond was very polluted and filled with soil. “Less than two years I went to the pond and found it covered with faecal waste and filled with soil. Then our government decided to restore all the ponds with the approval of the central government. Today all these things have been reviewed.

The visit highlighted the challenges faced by the residents of Laxmi Sagar-Chintamanishwar and the need to take immediate steps to improve infrastructure and sanitation in the area.
