New Delhi: Many famous athletes have failed in the history of Olympics. Not able to perform according to reputation. Some have returned empty handed. Many legendary athletes have been disappointed in the Olympics, despite having excelled in other international competitions.

Roger Bannister of the UK. But the Olympic record of this legendary runner is very disappointing. Bannister did not participate in the 1948 London Olympics. Because he was not ready for this. Four years later he competed in Helsinki, but his favorite 880m race did not place. Bannister was forced to take part in the 1500 meters and was in fourth place.

Some athletes have failed to win gold medals in multiple attempts at the Olympics. Jamaican Marlin Otte is one of the famous athletes who did not win gold. Sprinter Marlin Otte has won a total of 9 Olympic medals. But there is no gold in it. Perhaps there is no other unlucky athlete than Otte.

The name of Namibian sprinter Frankie Fredericks will be among the runners who could not win gold in the Olympics. Fredericks participated in two Olympics. He won multiple medals including gold in the 100m and 200m in the World Championship and the state team, but only the silver medal in the two Olympics was his luck.

Paul Tergat of Kenya was the world champion in marathon and cross country. From 2003 to 2007, the marathon world record was held by Tergat. Tergat won the world cross country title 5 times. Tergat participated in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics as a favorite in the 10,000 meter race. But each time he was defeated by one of the greatest runners, Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia.

Kenyan-born Denmark athlete Wilson Kipketer was unbeatable in the 800m race in the 1990s. Won multiple titles. But in 2000 and 2004 Olympics, Kipketer could not win gold in his event.
