Bhubaneswar: After 24 years, another phase of state politics has been reversed. The era of Mohan Majhi has begun. Mohan Charan Majhi, the newly elected MLA of Keonjhar and the BJP leader, took oath as the 15th Chief Minister of Odisha on Wednesday at the Janata Maidan.
The search for a permanent office for the Chief Minister started after the results of the current election on June 4. So far no suitable place has been found. Inside, the first floor of the Rajya Guest House has been announced as the new Chief Minister’s temporary office. After returning from Puri today, Mohan Majhi has started his work in the first floor of Rajya Guest House. Along with this, the Chief Minister is also meeting various leaders, ministers and city development officials at the state guest house.
However, after taking oath as the new Chief Minister of Odisha on Wednesday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held the first cabinet meeting on the third floor of the Lok Sabha building. After which there was talk that the office of the new Chief Minister could be in the Lok Sabha building. Today, the Chief Minister started his office on the first floor of the State Guest House. So it is temporary. Later it may be shifted to the third floor of the Lok Sabha building or it may be made the chief minister’s office permanently.
It is worth noting that no specific bungalow has been provided for the Chief Minister of Odisha. Earlier, Naveen Patnaik worked from his private residence, Naveen Bishan, during his 24-year tenure as the head of the state government, as he had been working from there since assuming office and it was known as the Chief Minister’s residence until now.
After taking oath as Chief Minister in 2000, Naveen preferred to work from his residence instead of going to the provided government residence. This decision created a unique example in the political history of the state. For almost a quarter of a century, all government and administrative functions were carried out from the residence of Naveen. Which is a house built by his father and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik.
