Mumbai: A mega auction will be held ahead of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League. This time the franchisers will retain some players while releasing others. According to reports, the IPL franchisees met with the officials. In this they requested to change in 3 rules. Franchisors have asked to extend the mega auction period to 5 years. Each team has been asked to retain 4 to 6 players and at least 8 right-to-match option.

An increase in the mega auction period will give the young and uncapped players ample time to prepare. Now mega auction is held once in 3 years. IPL Organizing Committee and BCCI have not issued any statement in this regard. This time, almost every team’s profile is likely to change in the mega auction. It will be known during the auction whether the organizing committee accepts the request of the franchisors.
