Report Frontline

Bhubaneswar: Dengue infections on the rise in the capital. Due to rainy days, mosquitoes are increasing. As a result, dengue has reached 200 in the capital Bhubaneswar. However, as of last July 16, it has reached 115 and now its number has reached 211 as of last 27. However, its increasing number is a cause for concern.

However, according to the data, 160 infected people left the city in July, while 96 new positive people have been detected in the last 11 days. Most of the outbreaks have been detected from Jagmara, Salyasahi, Patiya etc. while Khadgiri has become its hotspot. A maximum of 21 infected people have been identified from here. In the past month, it seems that dengue patients are coming out of this area daily, the health worker informed. From January to July 27, a total of 11,910 tests were conducted in Khurda, out of which 467 dengue positive cases were detected. There are 211 people from BMC area and 83 people from Khurda rural area. There is no information about the remaining 173 infected persons.

On the other hand, Bhubaneswar is in the rain. No drain cleaning, no drainage system. Due to the fact that the capital is waterlogged due to heavy rains, the drains are not cleaned in many places and mosquitoes are breeding there. Broken tins, tires and flowerpots lying on the roadside are accumulating water. The way Dry Day was celebrated by BMC last year is not seen this year. The infection is said to be increasing.
