Chhattisgarh Governor, Vishwa Bhushan was replaced by Ramen Dika

Bhubaneswar: President Draupadi Murmu has appointed governors in 10 states and union territories. The President appointed new governors of Rajasthan, Telangana, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Pondicherry, Manipur. President Draupadi Murmu has made Ramen Dikka the governor in place of the former governor of Chhattisgarh, Vishwabhushan Harichandan.

Harichandan was previously working as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh. He was appointed as the governor of Chhattisgarh in February last year. Vishwabhushan Harichandan was the Governor of Andhra Pradesh from July 2019. However, before taking charge as the governor, he was very active in the politics of Odisha. While Bishvabhushan was MLA from Chilika assembly seat twice, from 1997 to 2009 he was also MLA from Bhubaneswar seat.

He became a minister for the first time in 1977. He was a cabinet minister in the BJP-BJD coalition government in 2004. He has served as the Minister of Revenue Law, Industry, Food Supply, Culture, Tourism and Rural Development in Odisha. Apart from politics, Harichandan is also interested in literature and has written other books including his autobiography. That is why he was honored with Biswanath Mishra Autobiography Award in 2019 and Kinging Ratna Award in 2021.

Now BJD has formed the government in Odisha. Prithviraj Harichandan, the son of Vishwabhushan, has won the election from the Chilika assembly constituency as a BJP candidate in the 2024 assembly elections. He got a total of 83,264 votes and was elected to the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly by defeating his nearest rival Raghunath Sahu of the BJD Party by 4,566 votes. Prithviraj Harichandan is serving as the Law Minister in the 17th Legislative Assembly.
