Bad weather, gone 4 lives

New Delhi: Bad weather. 4 lives are gone. 4 climbers died due to cold. Such a rare incident happened on the Sahastratal track near Uttarkashi-Tehri township border in Uttarakhand. 8 people were rescued while the rescue is still going on.

Last May 29, a team of 22 mountaineers started their journey from Malla-Silla to trek Saastratal via Kush Kalyan Bugial. On June 2, the team reached Kokhli Top Base Camp in Sahastratal. And on June 3, the team left for Sahastratal.

They were scheduled to return on June 7. There, the trekkers were trapped in a sudden change of weather, thick fog and snowfall. It was time for them. Four trekkers died due to extreme cold while 8 people were rescued. According to Uttarkashi District Collector Meherban Singh Bishat, efforts are on to rescue the trapped people.
