Brahampur: Another person was infected with diphtheria. A diphtheria patient has died at Berhampur MKCG Medical Centre. The deceased has been identified as Dipuna Meleka, the 10-year-old son of Subarao Meleka of Kukhariput village, Tungaon block, Koraput district. Medical Superintendent Dr. Suchitr Das informed this.
As the number of diphtheria deaths is increasing day by day, it has become a cause of concern for the people of the state. Earlier, 5 people died due to diphtheria infection in Kashipur, Rayagada. On the other hand, booster dose vaccination has been started in Kashipur today to curb diphtheria infection. A penta dose is given to the inner child.
However, from the newborn to the age of one year, penta dose will be given to the child. Second, DPT dose will be given to children between 1 and 7 years and TD dose will be given to children between 7 and 15 years. Director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. sanjukta Sahu has informed. After the surveillance is done, a booster dose will be given to the other areas where the infection has spread. Further surveillance will be done in Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri.
