Baripada: Opium Cultivation in Neon Sanctuary named after Thambiar. The more you dig, the more it comes out. Opium has spread throughout the sanctuary. Once again, the Mayurbhanj Excise Department has destroyed the opium cultivation in 15-1 forest land near Saruda village of Astakuanr Panchayat of Similipal.

According to the information, for information from special sources, the Excise Department, the Excise Department and the Forest Department jointly raided the core area of Saruda village in Similipal. He destroyed more than 5 lakh 25 thousand opium trees cultivated illegally on 15 acres of land. The estimated value of the destroyed opium will be around 10 crores and 50 lakhs, informed Prashant Kahar, Superintendent of the Mayurbhanj Civil Works. A case has been filed by the unemployment department and the investigation is going on. So far opium cultivation has been destroyed in 7 places of Similipal. The estimated cost of which will be more than 25 crore rupees.

It should be noted that on March 10th, the joint team of Mayurbhanj district forestry department raided three places in the interior of the forest and destroyed 9 lakh 10 thousand opium trees. It is said that the estimated market value of the destroyed cannabis will be more than 18 crores. Yashipur police have registered a case and are continuing the investigation. However, while no one has been arrested in the said incident, the Anti-Corruption Department once again raided and destroyed the illegal opium farm.
