Amrit Mohan Prasad become DGP of CRPF after IPS Khurania become DGP

Bhubaneswar: 1989 batch IPS officer Amrit Mohan Prasad has been appointed as DGP of CRPF. This IPS officer of Odisha cadre is now employed as DG Jail of Odisha. He will be the CRPF DG till the end of August 2025

Amrit Mohan was the senior IPS officer of the state but when his junior or 1990 batch IPS YB Khurania is returning to Odisha and there is talk of him becoming the next DGP of the state, Amrit Prasad has been appointed as CRPF DGP by the central government.

Before returning to the original cadre, Khurania was posted as Special DG at the BSF headquarters in New Delhi. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the Home Ministry’s proposal to immediately reinstate BSF Special DG YB Khurania to his original cadre, a notification issued by the Ministry of Personnel, People’s Grievances and Pensions said on Friday.

Before going on central deputation, this senior IPS officer was working as Additional DGP in Odisha. Before going to Central Deputation, YB Khurania worked as Superintendent of Police or SP of Nayagarh, Jajpur, Rourkela, Mayurbhanj and Ganjam districts in Odisha. Apart from this, he also served as DIG of South Range and North Range, Additional Commissioner of Police and then Commissioner of Police.
