Paris: American athlete Noah Lyles won the gold medal in the men’s 100m race at the current Paris Olympics. Lyles has achieved this feat behind Jamaica’s Keshane Thompson. American Fred Curley won the bronze medal. Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Jacob Marcel of Italy is in 5th place. Lyles is the first athlete to win a gold medal in the 100 meters since Justin Gatlin. Gatlin won the gold medal at the 2004 Athens Games. Lyles finished the race in 9.784 seconds. There was only a 0.5 second gap between Lyles and Thompson.

After the race was over, everyone had to wait for some time for the results to be announced. Lyles won the 100m and 200m at the World Championships last year. Before the championship, he said strongly that he would break the 200m world record. However, he has not broken Usain Bolt’s record. He completed the race in 19.52 seconds. Bolt took 19.19 seconds. This world record still stands.
