New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has responded to the opposition’s allegation that Bihar and Andhra Pradesh were allocated more than other state in the Union Budget 2024.
The opposition called it discriminatory. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in the Rajya Sabha that no state has been ignored in the budget and the Congress-led opposition is deliberately trying to mislead the people.
Sitharaman said that in every budget, the name of every state of the country is not given a chance. He further said that the Union Cabinet has decided to set up a port at Badabhan, a town in Palghar district of Maharashtra, but the name of the state was not mentioned in the budget speech on Tuesday. Does this mean Maharashtra feels neglected?
If a specific state is mentioned in the declaration, does it mean that the Government of India program will not go to these states? This is a deliberate attempt by the Congress-led opposition to make people think that nothing has been given to our state. This is a humiliating allegation, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on the opposition’s protest against the ‘discriminatory’ budget in the Rajya Sabha.
On the other hand, the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Khadge, said that before the withdrawal of the opposition, ‘Ye kursi bachne ke leye ye sub hua shunt’.
“I feel like I’m sitting on a chair. We will condemn it and protest against it. The opposition parties will protest… If there is no balance, how will the development happen, Khadge asked.
