Bhubaneswar: A cyclone has formed today in Gangetic West Bengal and neighboring Jharkhand and Odisha. Due to this, there may be heavy rain in some places of South Odisha and North Odisha today. Heavy rain is likely to occur in Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Rayagada and Koraput districts in the next 24 hours.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there may be light rain in interior and western Odisha including coastal Odisha. But there will be good rain in some places of South and North Odisha. The cyclone is likely to become a low pressure by 16th. On 19th it turned into heavy rainfall and it is predicted to bring heavy rain in many districts of western and interior Odisha till 21st.
However, on the 17th and 18th, rain will continue in most parts of South Odisha. It has been raining in the state for the last 48 hours. Heavy rains continue in the state even today. Yesterday there was light rain in different parts of the state. 23mm in Nabarangpur, 18 in Titilagarh, 17.5 in Balangir, 16.4 in Jagatsinghpur, 15 in Khurda and 12 mm in Bargarh.
