Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury resigned

Kolkata: West Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has resigned. He has sent his resignation letter to the high command of the party. He wrote in his resignation, “I resigned even during the Mentparty discussion with Mamata Banerjee, but my resignation letter was not accepted at that time.” Now that the election is over, please accept my resignation. However, the high command asked him to stay in the post until the final decision is taken.

From 2019 to 2024, Adhir Ranjan was the leader of the Congress opposition in the Lok Sabha. In the 2024 general election, he lost against TMC leader and cricketer Yusuf Pathan from Baharampur in West Bengal. In this election, Yusuf Pathan got 5 lakh 24 thousand 516 votes while Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary got 4 lakh 39 thousand 494 votes.

Adhir Chowdhury is a well-known face in West Bengal politics. He has been fighting with West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee for many years as the leader of the opposition party.
