2022 T20 World Cup: England won the trophy for the second time

The last edition of the T20 World Cup in Australia was held from 16th October to 13th November. 16 teams participated in it. Afghanistan, Australia, England, New Zealand, Ireland and Sri Lanka are in Group 1 of Super 12 while Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Netherlands and Zimbabwe are in Group 2. In the Super 12, India lost to Pakistan by 4 wickets and started the victory campaign. Pakistan batted first and scored 159 runs. Shan Masood scored 52 runs. In response, Virat Kohli’s explosive 82 runs in India won this exciting match in the last over.

After that, India lost to Netherlands by 56 runs. Team India batted first and scored 179 runs. Virat Kohli remained unbeaten with 62 runs. Netherlands was able to score 123 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted overs. In the third match, South Africa lost to India by 5 wickets. India set a winning target of 134 runs against South Africa. Suryakumar yadav scored a quick 68 off 40 balls. South Africa won it by losing 5 wickets in 19.4 overs. David Miller scored 59 runs. India won the rain-interrupted match against Bangladesh by five runs under the Duckworth-Lewis rule. India batted first and scored 184 runs. Virat Kohli scored 64 runs. Bangladesh was defeated by losing 6 wickets in 16 overs and scored 145 runs.

In the final match, India defeated Zimbabwe by 71 runs and entered the semis. Suryakumar Yadav also scored explosive 61 runs in this match. In the semi-finals, New Zealand-Pakistan and India-England faced each other. In the first half, New Zealand lost to Pakistan by 7 wickets and entered the final.

In the second half, India batted first and scored 168 runs. Hardik Pandya scored 63 runs and Virat Kohli scored 50 runs. Chris Jordan took 3 wickets. England won without losing any wicket in 16 overs and advanced to the final. Alex Hales scored 86 and Jos Buttler remained unbeaten with 80 runs.

In the final, Pakistan batted first and scored 137 runs. Shan Masood scored 38 and Babar Azam scored 32 runs. Sam Curran took 3 wickets. In reply, England lost 5 wickets in 19 overs and achieved the target and became champions for the second time. Ben Stokes played a match winning innings of 52 runs. Harish Rauf took 2 wickets.
