THE BHITARKANIKA  WILL BE CLOSED FOR TOURISTS FROM MAY 1

Kendrapada: Bhitarkanika National Park will be closed for tourists from May 1 to 3 months. The bhitarkanika will be closed till July 31. There is information about the closure of 3 months for the breeding season of crocodiles. The breeding season of the crocodiles living in the rivers flowing in the bhitarkanika is approaching. In view of which this decision has been taken by Rajnagar Department for the protection of crocodiles and tourists.

No tourist can enter the Bhitarkanika of the national park for 3 months. During these 3 months, boats will not operate in the Bhitarkanika because the operation of boats interferes with the mating process of crocodiles. After the mating process of crocodiles, mother crocodiles lay eggs. After laying the eggs, the mother will guard the nest until the chicks hatch.

After spawning, mother crocodiles become more aggressive and are more likely to attack. For the safety of tourists, the Bhitarkanika is closed for three months. On the other hand, Rajnagar Forest Officer has informed the villagers along the banks of the river to be cautious in moving in the river. However, Rajnagar Forest officials have informed about the opening of the interior national park for tourists on August 1.
