New Delhi: India’s star woman wrestler Vinesh Phogat has made a serious complaint about Indian Wrestling Association Chairman Sanjay Singh on Friday. He said, “WFI and its allied officials are trying to prevent them from playing in the Olympics without giving them a certificate of recognition.” On the contrary, the union has said that Vinesh did not apply until the deadline. They have even brought deadly allegations that a doping conspiracy is being made against him. The 29-year-old Vinesh won the bronze medal in the 53 kg category of the 2019 and 2022 World Championships. In the 2018 Asian Games, he won the gold medal in the 50 kg category.

Vinesh wants to achieve the Olympic quota through the Asian qualifying tournament to be held in Kyrgyzstan. In the trials held in Patiala, he participated in the 53 kg category and left the semi-finals. According to WFI, Vinesh’s email came on March 18 to issue the certificate of coach, physio. By that time, the list of players, coaches and medical staff had already been sent to United World Wrestling. Its deadline was March 11. Now for the permission he has to get the permission directly from World Wrestling.
