Malkangiri: Police seized more than 3 lakh rupees from an SUV heading towards Chhattisgarh. The flying squad, led by Malkangari in-charge magistrate and assistant district magistrate Alekh Bhoi, was patrolling in Chalanguda on Tuesday. The patrolling was carried out to monitor the illegal transportation of liquor, drugs and cash for elections in both the states.
During this operation, the police stopped an SUV going from Malkangari to Chhattisgarh. After checking, cash of 3 lakh 70 thousand rupees was found. While Chituram Thakur from Malkangari was driving this lane, another Yashraj was a ghost.
When squad members asked about the cash, the two men could not provide any documentation or satisfactory explanation about its source. They introduced themselves as traders traveling to Chhattisgarh. The police seized the cash and detained both of them and conducted further investigation.
