Bhubaneswar (Sampad) : The chill of winter is fast approaching, so does the festive season but the hearts of Bhubaneswar’s community members warmed up this weekend thanks to the heartfelt initiative by “We Navodayans.” On this beautiful weekend, October 14 & 15, 2023, the organization spearheaded a winter clothing collection drive across three prominent locations in the city.
The day kicked off early at AIIMS, where the We Navodayans team set up their collection kiosk from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. With the morning sun shining, volunteers eagerly accepted donations of gently used winter clothing, ranging from cozy sweaters to warm scarves and jackets. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and compassion as donors generously contributed to the cause.
As the morning collection wrapped up, the movement seamlessly transitioned to ITER, where the kiosk was open from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Students, staff, and local residents poured in to show their support. It was inspiring to see the younger generation actively participating in giving back to the community and ensuring that those less fortunate are well-equipped to face the impending winter.
The final leg of this remarkable day of giving unfolded at SUM HOSPITAL. From 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the volunteers continued to receive an outpouring of winter clothing donations. The SUM HOSPITAL location attracted a diverse crowd, including healthcare professionals, patients, and visitors, all united in the spirit of philanthropy.
“We Navodayans” is a community from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) known for their commitment to making a positive impact. This winter clothing collection drive was a testament to their dedication to the welfare of the less privileged.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Rudra Narayan Satapathy, a representative of “We Navodayans,” said, “Our aim is to make this winter season a bit warmer for those who need it the most. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the community, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the donors and volunteers who made this drive a success.” The drive was successful by major volunteers by Ms.Supriya, Mr.Sushil Sahoo, Er.Prashant Kumar Sahoo, Mr.Swetajit Sahoo, Mr. Pratyusha Ranjan Sahoo, Mr Shantanu Kumar Nandi and Mr.Sampad Sahoo. The collected winter clothing has been sorted and distributed near the Crown Hotel, Bhubaneswar.
This event serves as a poignant reminder of the positive change that can be achieved when a community comes together. “We Navodayans” has not only collected clothing but also brought warmth to countless hearts and strengthened the bonds of compassion in Bhubaneswar, said Mr.Sampad.
As the sun sets on this remarkable Weekend, the message is clear – even a small act of kindness can make a big difference. “We Navodayans” and the people of Bhubaneswar have demonstrated that, when we stand together, we can create a better world for all.
