Bhubaneswar: On Sunday, the first flood water of this year was discharged from Hirakud reservoir. While the amount of rain was controll at the upper end, 2 gates were closed yesterday and 4 more gates were close later. The authorities have closed 2 more gates today. Now the water is being discharged through 12 gates of Hirakud. On the other hand, it has been seen that the water level in Cuttack has decreased due to the closure of the Hirakud gates.
However, on Sunday, a total of 20 gates were opened and the floodwaters were flowing, but due to the improvement in the situation, the gates are being closed slowly. Now water is being drained through 12 gates. Water is flowing through 8 gates on the left side and 4 gates on the south side.
However, on Sunday morning at 9:30 am, the first flood water of the year was discharged from Hirakud reservoir. According to the tradition, like every year, this year too, the gate number 7 on the left side was opened first. Then 5 sluice gates on the left side and 2 sluice gates on the right side were opened. Then 9 gates on the left side and 4 gates on the right side have been opened. By Sunday evening, the flood water was drained through a total of 20 gates in three phases.
