137 wild animals and 72 people died in Assam floods

Guwahati: Monsoon rains are continuing across the country. The flood situation in Assam has taken a terrible form. Brahmaputra and its tributaries are flowing on the danger signal. 137 wild animals died in this catastrophic flood while 99 wild animals were rescued from Kaziranga National Park. Similarly, 27.74 lakh people in 28 districts have been affected while 72 people have died.
Assam’s Dhubri district, home to 6.48 lakh people, is the most flood-affected. There is always a fear of flooding as the water levels in major rivers in the eastern states are above the danger mark. Assam Chief Minister Hemant Biswa sharma visited the affected areas and reviewed them.

Rains are continuing all over the country after the onset of Monsoon. There has been heavy rain in North India and all the states. The situation in Assam is like this, Brahmaputra river has flooded. This is the first flood of this year. In the upper reaches of the Brahmaputra river, the river is swelling due to heavy rains. The water level of the river is constantly increasing. High alert has been issued in the coastal areas due to flooding in the river. Keeping in view the situation, the government has ordered to keep an eye on the flooded areas.

People have left their homes due to inundation in many areas. It has been asked to vacate the danger areas. Similarly, while the situation is being monitored at the administrative level, the NDRF team is ready for rescue operations. The water level in Puthimari, Pagladia, Manas and other rivers including Brahmaputra river is affected by danger signal. Rescue operations are ongoing by the Army, NDRF, SDRF and fire brigade. Even today, the weather department has predicted that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in most of the districts of the state.
